Description

Join Arrell Food Institute for Guelph’s Eat Think Vote event before the 2019 federal election.

Eat Think Vote is a campaign created by Food Secure Canada that gathers communities across the country to discuss important food issues with political candidates ahead of the upcoming federal election. We want to ensure that the incoming government works towards a food system where no one goes hungry, and where food is healthy as well as sustainable.

The 2019 Eat Think Vote Guelph event provides the opportunity for the Guelph community members to share their food-related concerns with federal candidates.

Join us on Tuesday, August 13th from 4:30-6:00pm at the Guelph Community Health Centre (Community Room, lower level). Candidates will speak to issues such as food insecurity, food sovereignty and food accessibility, with an open Q&A session and mingling afterwards. Food will be provided that’s been generously donated from local restaurants as well as prepared by the Upcycle Kitchen, a social enterprise of The SEED that provides kitchen-based training to youth facing barriers to employment. The SEED is a project of the Guelph Community Health Centre that offers programs and services tackling the root causes and downstream effects of poverty and food insecurity (https://www.theseedguelph.ca/)

This event is a collaboration between Arrell Food Institute, a portal to agri-food research at the University of Guelph, and The SEED.
